If you want to up the heat a bit add some red pepper flakes, or maybe some crushed <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3n5xXxJ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Szechuan pepper<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients for Mongolian Beef<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>flank steak or skirt steak<\/strong> (or even round steak if you cut it thin and don't over cook)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>cornstarch<\/strong> (or arrowroot, tapioca or potato starch for corn allergies)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>low sodium sauce <\/strong>(tamari)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>brown sugar<\/strong> (you can use a sugar free substitute, honey might be the next best choice<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vegetable oil<\/strong> (canola, corn, olive, anything neutral tasting)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>scallions (green onions), fresh garlic and fresh ginger<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>sesame seeds<\/strong> for serving<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Serve it with rice or noodles and some vegetables like <a href=\"https:\/\/thatrecipe.com\/spicy-sesame-yard-long-beans\/\">sauteed yardlong beans<\/a> or <a Saut\u00e9 about 2 minutes. Add the soy sauce, water and brown sugar. Increase the heat to medium. Bring the sauce to a boil for 3 minutes. Remove from the heat.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-17246-step-0-2\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Add \u00bd cup oil to a wok or large skillet (preferably cast iron) and turn heat to medium high. Once oil is hot add beef and cook until seared (dark brown) on all sides - about 2 minutes. Remove from pan with a slotted spoon to a paper towel to drain. Pour off any excess oil.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-17246-step-0-3\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Add beef and sauce back to the wok and bring to a boil, stirring gently, for 2 minutes. Mix in scallion tops. Serve with rice or noodles.
