I have tried a few others and they have some weird spices or strange texture to them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can bake this in a casserole dish or pie plate, or keep it simple and skip the bottom layer and just bake it in the skillet. Both methods are described below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients for Tamale Pie&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We usually make this with <strong>bulk sausage<\/strong>, but you could use ground beef or ground pork and add some extra spices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other ingredients you will need:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>yellow onion and garlic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>tomato sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>chili powder and salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sliced pitted ripe olives (optional) and\/or canned corn<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>yellow (or white) corn meal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>eggs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>butter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For garnish you can add sliced pitted ripe olives, sliced jalapeno peppers or some chopped green onions.
